Bring the Magic Home: A Guide to Your Frankie's Old Fashioned Syrup

Nov 5, 2025

Hello, and thank you again for joining us for our Texas Origins supper club. We're still buzzing from the incredible energy of the evening. One of our favorite parts of hosting is sending our guests home with a little piece of the experience, and this month, that's our signature Old Fashioned syrup.

We wanted to give you more than just a souvenir; we wanted to give you a tool to create your own moments of magic. This little bottle is the secret to two of our favorite cocktails: the one you tasted at the dinner and the timeless classic that inspired it.

Here's how to use it.

The Welcome Cocktail: The Fall Sherry Cobbler

When we were planning the welcome for "Texas Origins," we wanted something that felt like a crisp Texas autumn evening. A Sherry Cobbler is a historic, refreshing, and endlessly adaptable cocktail. By using our Old Fashioned syrup, we added a touch of autumnal spice and richness that perfectly set the stage for Chef Bobby's menu. Here’s how you can recreate it.

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz McPherson Cream Sherry

  • 3/4 oz Frankie's Old Fashioned Syrup

  • 1/4 oz Fresh Lemon Juice

  • 2 Orange Slices

  • Garnish: Mint sprig and a seasonal berry (like a blackberry or cranberry)

Instructions:

  1. Muddle: In a cocktail shaker, gently press the two orange slices to release their juice and oils.

  2. Combine: Add the McPherson Cream Sherry, Frankie's Old Fashioned Syrup, and fresh lemon juice to the shaker.

  3. Shake: Fill the shaker with standard ice and shake well for 10-12 seconds until chilled.

  4. Serve: Strain the mixture into a glass (a wine glass or Collins glass works well) filled with crushed ice.

  5. Garnish: Garnish with a fresh sprig of mint and a seasonal berry.

The Timeless Classic: The Frankie's Old Fashioned

Now for the cocktail that inspired the syrup itself. A perfect Old Fashioned is all about balance, and that's what we aimed for with our syrup. The ideal ratio of rich sugar and aromatic bitters, ready to go. This recipe is simple, elegant, and lets a great whiskey shine.

A Sommelier's Tip: The secret to a perfect Old Fashioned is temperature and dilution. Don't be afraid to stir it for a full 30 seconds. A well-chilled and properly diluted Old Fashioned is a thing of beauty. And never, ever skip the orange peel garnish.. It's not just for looks, it's a key aromatic ingredient!

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz Bourbon or Rye Whiskey (your favorite!)

  • 1/4 oz Frankie's Old Fashioned Syrup

  • Garnish: A wide orange peel

Instructions:

  1. Combine: Add the whiskey and Frankie's Old Fashioned Syrup to a mixing glass filled with ice.

  2. Stir: Using a bar spoon, stir continuously for 20-30 seconds until the outside of the glass is frosty and well-chilled.

  3. Strain: Strain the mixture into a rocks glass over a single, large ice cube.

  4. Garnish: Take the orange peel and twist it over the surface of the drink to express its oils. Rub the peel around the rim of the glass and then drop it in.

We hope this little bottle brings a touch of Frankie's magic to your home bar. Thank you again for being part of our community. We can't wait to see you at the table again soon.

Cheers,
