This is a masterstroke of austerity from Barolo’s most revered hands. A new legend is born.
A Monument from Serralunga
Sourced from the storied Arione cru in Serralunga d’Alba, this wine is the legacy of Giacomo Conterno’s uncompromising vision. The aromatics are contemplative and powerful: dark cherry, dried roses, and iron shavings. The wine is patient, not flashy. On the palate, it is architectural. Towering tannins frame a core of sinewy fruit and ferrous energy.
Fermented with extended maceration and aged for nearly four years in large Slavonian oak botti, this is Barolo as it has always been. If Francia is the patriarch, Arione is the philosopher: a brooding, cerebral Barolo built for the long arc.
How to Enjoy
This wine is an investment in the future. It is built for decades of cellaring. If opened, it requires many hours of decanting.
